The quality and range of material submitted to the scientific committee allowed them to choose for presentation a number of free papers that dealt with a variety of interesting and timely subjects dealing with different aspects of nuclear medicine.

The second day of the meeting was also notable for our annual gala dinner, which was held this year after sunset in an old castle near the sea-shore in the western outskirts of Alexandria. Different delicious sea food plates were served while watching some of the Folklore dancing characteristic of the north western part of Egypt.

Inspite of the difficulties imposed by the disturbed economic situation, together with the effects of the second gulf war, the meeting was attended by  90  participants (  78  Egyptians &  12  expatriates). As usual, our guests from outside Egypt were variable with 2 from North Africa,  5  from Europe,  3  Americans and  2  from Asia.

Our greatest satisfaction comes from the enthusiastic participation of such a large proportion of the nuclear medicine community with their fruitful discussions. It is also very gratifying to receive so many nice comments from the attendees after their return home.

Herewith are some examples of the received comments  :

I found the meeting well run with a good mixture of talks in spite of the special circumstances making the meeting organization difficult.

Prof. Dr. J. Buscombe. (UK)

The quality of the audience as well as the venue were excellent.

                                                  Eng. Van Der Borght. (Belgium)

The congress was very well organized.

                                                Prof. R. Baum. (Germany)

In this connection, I would love to record our thanks to everyone who helped in making this meeting succeed. Definitely we cannot overlook the roles of the board of directors, the organizing committee and the secretarial group, as well as Intertours who handled the needed reservations and travel arrangements.

Similarly, we cannot deny the donations offered by the banks and companies working in the field of nuclear medicine, and which helped us to have such a wonderful meeting.
